Remodeling Powerfully Pink

Remodeling a Bathroom

LESS IS BEST - It's not that Ronnie and Donna Brauchi dislike the color pink, they just didn't want it overwhelming their entire bathroom anymore! The couple from Pampa hired DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen to turn their extremely blush bathroom into a soothing space with neutral paint tones, stone surfaces and ceramic tiles.

In Ronnie and Donna Brauchi's newly-remodeled bathroom, pink adds the perfect pop of color.

Shades of mauve, berry and rose provide an exciting accent here and there - just the right amount to break up the soothing tones of neutral paint, stone and tile.

The new look is a far cry from the "pinkness" that used to overpower the Brauchi's old bathroom. Before their DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen remodel, the space was predominantly pink.

"Everything was pink," Donna says. "We moved into this house in the fall of 1981, when that look was pretty popular."

Needless to say, the couple wasn't pleased with their pink bathroom. Over the years, they would attempt simple facelifts, such as new wallpaper and decor, but still, they weren't tickled with the features that screamed pink, like the tile, the tub, the toilet and the sink.

The Brauchi family, who live in Pampa, trusted DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Lubbock to handle their remodel. As second-time clients of the company, they were excited to welcome DreamMaker into their home again.

We chose DreamMaker because of the positive experience we had with the company when they remodeled our kitchen," Donna says.

"We loved their workers. They were all very courteous, friendly and as clean as they could be. The process went so smoothly and we appreciated how they stayed on task. Having had that kind of experience before, we expected them to provide the same experience the second time around - and they did!"

The remodel of the Brauchi bathroom took less than four weeks, and everything pink was torn out and hauled away. The wallpaper and flooring - outdated, stained vinyl that peeled up in the corner was ripped out as well, and Donna wasn't sad to see any of it go!

Instead of one sink, the new bathroom has two white undermounts that are set into a beautiful marble countertop with custom cabinets built beneath. Although the narrow footprint of the bathroom was not changed, the couple are happy that DreamMaker made the space more efficient for guests, like grandkids, to use!

Ceramic tile replaced the vinyl flooring - one of Donna's favorite features - along with a tub and shower with a contour rod.

Donna mentions that in addition to their professionalism and talent, she appreciated the extra work that DreamMaker did to lend a hand.

"Our hot water heater went out while they were here, and they took care of it," she says. "Little things like that make a big difference."

Donna's summary of their new bathroom: "It's not too fancy; it's just right! We are simple, down-to-earth people who just wanted an update that would be easy to care for... and to get rid of all that pink!"
