A Remodeled Kitchen
PEACE OF MIND - With a wood-burning stove and solid brick planter now removed from their home, Zach and Robyn Reaves feel better about the spaces where their two small children play. Their DreamMaker remodel also added elegant new features and changes that opened up their home to make it a spacious and safe place to live.
Zach and Robyn Reaves purchased their home in Levelland two years ago with the intention of making some upgrades in the future.
Well, the future brought two babies! The Reaves temporarily put their upgrade on hold, but having children just lengthened their list of reasons to remodel. Many of the features they once dreamed of changing were not only outdated, but now unsafe. Unforgiving surfaces and sharp corners just weren't ideal for curious little ones.
The Reaves wanted to be able to relax in a home that was both stylish and safe for their young family to enjoy. A wood-burning stove and solid brick planter would be the first of the dangerous and outdated details to go.
"We got ready to do it and started looking around at different companies. We interviewed several and we liked DreamMaker the most," Robyn says. "Steve Betts came out to our house and helped us with every little detail. Together, we explored all the options, and Zach and I picked exactly what we wanted."
The remodel took about five weeks and Robyn says the entire process went smoother than she anticipated, especially considering some unexpected circumstances.
"Our son became outrageously sick during the remodel, and the DreamMaker team was so accommodating. As we were in and out of the hospital, they would call and check on us to see if we needed anything. They were so caring," she says.
"They were also extremely organized and tidy. We live out in the country where it's dusty and dirty, and they kept the work area as pleasant as possible," she adds. "We were even able to stay at home with kids throughout the process. We were never worried and they were very conscientious of our family's routine."
Some highlights of the remodel include custom knotty alder cabinets in the kitchen, with smooth granite replacing cream-colored laminate countertops. A new stainless steel farmhouse sink, microwave drawer and travertine backsplash are some of Robyn's favorite features, along with the elegant pendant lighting.
The couple gained space and more importantly, peace of mind, when DreamMaker removed the solid brick planter and wood-burning stove. As an added plus, they built a custom hutch into the space where the stove once stood, so Robyn can display dishes passed down by family members. The dining room and a nearby bathroom were remodeled as well, altogether making a beautiful, open, family-friendly living space!
"I love being in this kitchen," Robyn says. "Our two-year-old daughter does too - she always wants to sit on the counter and help."
The Reaves say they would definitely recommend DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, and they hope to have them in their home again someday.
